Sad, sad weekend

The strangest thing happened on Thursday. It snowed and it was slippy so I came home from work before I was going to.

Brian slept in all weekend and even though I turned off the alarm I was not able to sleep in and this drove me nuts. The weekend was nice and quiet - Brian's sister was out of town and she called to say that they were snowed in at Donnie's brothers house in PEI.

All the above happened before we heard the news of the soldiers in Afghanistan. Brian worked with 2 of them and of those 2 one of them was on tour with him in 2005 and the other he knew quite well. It was very stressful hearing this news and then not knowing the names so that we knew if it was anyone we knew.

I feel so terrible for the families of these men. I totally support the work that our guys are doing over there but this is so sad. I am trying to keep positive and focus on Kelsey's play that is coming up. Brian will be attending at least one of the funerals and he may be away for a few days. If he is away on the weekend I may take a drive and see Kelsey's play. But if there is a memorial seervice I will attend that.

We are just waiting to hear the wheres and whens of services now.

I just wish that whoever was planting these bombs could see that the Canadians are not there to do bad. Everything that we are involved in doing it to benifit the Afghan people.

Can't we all just get along.

I have a younger sister that will be going to Iraq in July. I've been knitting helmet liners for her and, hopefully, for her company. I will also be making neck coolers for them.
I imagine there are lots of ups and downs with the military life.
Keep up your knitting!!
